Houston Convention Center Hotel

High above the streets in the convention center area, rises the new Convention Center Hotel, a 23 story upscale hotel for those attending the many conventions at the George R. Brown Convention Center.
The perimeter of the roof is lined with suspended, overhanging concrete spandrel panels attached to the building by steel beams embedded in the concrete column extensions.
The weight of the spandrel panels was cracking the column extensions. Steel plates / beams were attached to the columns and Mobile Enterprises crews injected the cracks utilizing the “SCB Process” to restore original design strength to the columns.
17 of 27 column extensions were injected and spalls repaired with Master Builders S88CI, all on schedule as required.
Owner: Convention Center Consortium
System: Master Builder’s “SCB” Process
