Houston Convention Center Hotel

An error in concrete placement resulted in several large “Rock Pockets” in several columns and beams in the basement level on the new 22 story Convention Center Hotel located at the George R Brown Convention Center near downtown Houston.
After the rock pockets were chipped out and repaired with Emaco R300 / R350 mortar, Mobile crews abrasive blasted the areas designated by Project Engineers and installed the “MBrace System” of carbon fiber reinforcing and then topcoating the material with a flame retardant topcoat.
Owners and Engineers were very pleased with final results and construction was able to continue without interruption.
